This demo shows a low cost version of the surface table by Microsoft.
I think by now the interaction is pretty stable. It almost feels like the big iPhone gets transported to even more media again and again.
It is a nice way to browse through content. The next step is to bring editing via voice or in a smart other way to those devices.

Green Computers - Dell Bamboo Eco Computer
So far I newer covered any "green" stories here.
But it's an emerging trend and the whole IT-industry seems to be one of the very early adopters of that new paradigm. Everything has to be green. Of course this trend is perfect. I don't want to see the world polluted.
But for now I have the impression the most companies don't really have it in their mindset but are rather throwing that stuff out to keep up with the market.
The latest case is Dell. They presented a new lightweight computer covered with Bamboo. In addition to the green cover Dell also claims a green transportation strategy (by using old bottles and stuff for shipping) and they reduced the energy consumption.
Hopefully the users will honor those products. But it feels like especially in Europe the people need more time until they would use or buy such products.

Does the world need pseudo-transparency?
I just recently saw this video about a new case study in a joint effort between Microsoft and Mitsubishi. Basically the innovative part is that You see Your hands in addition to the picture You are manipulating or interacting with. Rather than hiding the objects You're interacting with.
I personally am not really convinced that this is the way to go. Especially because You waste a lot of space for the technical pieces.

Nanotechnology is taking over
This Study from Nokia shows how Nano technology could actually influence the way how mobile devices work in future.
Guess You could easily call this: the next big thing.
At least it is a technology driven innovation like the Internet world once was.
Steve Ballmer is talking about five revolutions he has seen so far (PC, Graphical User Interfaces, Internet, Web 2.0 and now alternative ways to display information). As we are still in the phase where the 2.0 stuff is settling and the mass users begin to understand the value of what happens within this medias the Nanostuff can actually do real cool things.

Good interaction
The costumers of this company can finally use the latest technology to interact with that what was formerly a store front with some display material.
It is a gesture based technology that gives the user the opportunity to influence the experience just by waving the hands in front of the screen or even window.
It would be interesting to see how it actually works. But it's an awesome new feature and in my opinion it currently shows that you as a company try to keep up to date with technology.
The use case is not right there. Of course you could put up much more information than You used to. But depending on the users behavior You should still get informed and get him off of the machine and talk to him to cause the buying action.
